Over the course of 2021 and 2022, in collaboration with our regional partners, GEO Mountains undertook a series of consultations and associated surveys on the interdisciplinary mountain "data landscape" – including user data requirements and the extent to which they can presently be met – in several of the planet’s major mountain regions.

The surveys remain open, and we warmly welcome the active communities in these regions who have not already done so to contribute to their respective survey(s) – irrespective of attendance at the associated workshops – using the links provided below. Recordings of previous sessions may be provided upon request.

The results of the surveys will be analysed by GEO Mountains Task Group 1.2, who will then develop a GEO Mountains "Data Agenda" report. This report will include a set of recommendations, both general (global) and targeted to the specific regions. In this way, and with you input and in collaboration with our various partner organisations, we hope to ultimately improve the data situation with respect to the present across the world’s mountains.
