As part of Task Group 3 (TG3) on Global Policy Outreach, this session will introduce an emerging initiative to develop a Supplement to the UNFCCC National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Technical Guidelines.
The meeting will present the motivations and early concepts for this potential Supplement—highlighting the role that Earth Observations (EO) and in situ monitoring can play in closing key data and observation gaps in mountainous areas.
The aim is to inform the community about this opportunity, explore the outcomes of a preliminary analysis of existing NAPs with respect to mountains conducted by one of our partners in the Adaptation at Altitude programme, and gauge interest and capacity for contributing to the development of these policy-relevant guidelines.
Agenda:
- Welcome & Introduction to the Supplement to NAP Technical Guidelines
- Presentation by Otto Simonett (ZOI) on findings from the analysis of existing NAPs regarding mountains.
- General discussion: Open floor for input and questions & discussion on document structure, content, and contributions
The meeting will be held online, Wednesday 18 June, from 14:00 - 15:00 CEST. The Zoom link will be sent automatically upon registration.
*Please note that this is a sub-activity of Task Group 3, and you will be added to the TG in order to participate to the meeting.
