In the coming months, the Group on Earth Observations (GEO)’s regional networks will host events where diverse stakeholders can exchange information across all levels and sectors and strengthen collaboration around the use of Earth observation. These events are particularly relevant for GEO Mountains members whose work intersects with mountain environments in the respective regions.
The AmeriGEO Week 2026 will take place in Guatemala City, Guatemala, from 30 November to 4 December. The four key themes are (1) Climate and Disaster Resilience, (2) Capacities, Inclusion, and Co-creation, (3) Biodiversity, Forests and Water, and (4) Interoperability and Open Data. For further details, see the event website.
The AOGEO (Asia – Oceania GEO) Symposium 2026 will take place in Tsukuba, Japan, from 15 to 17 December. For further details, see the event website here.
The AfriGEO Symposium 2026 recently took place in Abuja, Nigeria, from 5 to 8 October. We were pleased to share this event with our community through the GEO Mountains events page, and we hope many of you were able to take part. Further information on this event can be found here.
We warmly encourage GEO Mountains members working in these regions to consider attending, sharing their work, and helping raise the visibility of mountain data and information at these fora!
If you are planning to, and interested in attending one of these events, please get in touch: geomountains@mountainresearchinitiative.org
